What is ADP Employment Change?
The ADP National Employment Report estimates the monthly change in U.S. private-sector jobs, based on payroll data from ADP, which processes paychecks for over 25 million workers. It is released two days before the official government payrolls report.
Why it moves markets
ADP offers an early, independent preview of the labor market ahead of Friday’s NFP. While it does not always track the official number closely, a large surprise can shift expectations for payrolls and move markets.
How to read it
Compare the private-jobs change (in thousands) to forecast and to the upcoming NFP estimate. Treat it as a directional hint for payrolls rather than a precise predictor.
